Was delighted to find my first intact shell at DIV 54.  A Hotchkiss with an iron anvil fuze. It was a shallow find in the woods just 12 feet from a Schenkl shell that another digger found.  The lesson is when you find one percussive dud there is a high likelihood that another round was fired after the dud.  Scour the area!  It was a beautiful property to hunt. Thanks for the opportunity to explore and dig a new site.

Before and after pix of the Hotchkiss. The percussion fuze cleaned up nicely.
